UCSF Cardiovascular Research Institute

The design team for the University of California, San Francisco Cardiovascular Research Institute chose the EV-A.50 Guttered and Gasketed DRY system. The DRY system’s exposed extrusion system allowed the architect, SmithGroup, to craft a distinct look using the panels’ gridlines. The extrusions in the vertical joints were painted to match the panel finish, while the extrusions in the horizontal joints were painted black. This emboldened the horizontal joints to stand out against the vertical grids.
